Cubbytale

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026 · Written for Australia

Cubbytale is a bedtime story website and app for young children and their families, run from Australia. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to information when you use it. In this policy, "we" and "Cubbytale" mean the same thing.

The short version, for parents in a hurry

Information stored on your device

To work well, Cubbytale saves a few things on your phone or computer:

This information stays on your device. We can't see it and we don't receive it. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Cookies

Cubbytale does not use cookies. We don't use them for advertising, or to remember who you are between visits.

We do use a simple, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Vercel Web Analytics) to see how many people visit the site overall, which pages are popular, and roughly where visitors are coming from. It works without cookies and without collecting any personal information, it only gives us general numbers, never anything that identifies an individual child or parent.

The only thing saved on your own device is the small amount of local storage described above (your sleep timer and Repeat settings, and any stories you've chosen to save for offline listening). This is different from a cookie: it is never sent back to us or to anyone else, and only your own browser can read it. If we ever add a tool that uses cookies in the future, we will update this page first and explain what changed.

Information our website host receives

Cubbytale is hosted by Vercel. Like most websites, the servers that deliver a page automatically receive some technical details when a device asks for it, such as the IP address, the type of device or browser, the page requested and the time. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use it to identify, follow or build profiles of individual people.

Fonts and other services

The fonts, pictures and stories on Cubbytale are stored on our own site, so opening a page does not send your details to a font service or an advertising company. We do not include social media buttons, ad networks or third-party tracking tools.

Children's privacy

Cubbytale is made for young children to enjoy with a parent or carer. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has nothing for a child to type, share or post. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by writing to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

We've chosen to build Cubbytale with "privacy by default": no accounts, no tracking, and no collection of personal information, so there's as little as possible to protect in the first place. This is also the direction Australia's privacy regulator, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), is pushing children's services through a new Children's Online Privacy Code, expected to be finalised in late 2026. We intend to keep meeting that standard as it takes effect.

Our position under Australian privacy law

Cubbytale is based in Australia and follows the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) as a matter of good practice, even on points where, as a very small operation, we may not yet be legally required to. We don't collect, store, or sell personal information, so there is very little for Australian privacy law to apply to in the first place.

Australia does not currently require a cookie consent banner by law, and since Cubbytale uses no cookies at all, there is nothing to ask your consent for. If that ever changes, we will add a clear notice here and on the site itself before anything new is switched on.

If you email us

If you write to hello@cubbytale.com, we use your email address and your message only to reply to you. We keep the message for as long as we need it to help you, and then delete it.

The Android app

The Cubbytale Android app shows this same website in an app format. It works in the same way and follows this policy. Google Play, where you can download the app, may collect its own information under Google's own policies.

Your choices

You can clear what is stored on your device, uninstall the app, or stop using the website at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what information we hold or to have it deleted. Because we do not collect personal information through the site, there is usually nothing to look up, but you are welcome to ask.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Cubbytale works in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding a new feature, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
